A few of my favorite things!!

Keely over at Mann Land 5 is hosting a blog carnival on her favorite things and I have decided to join in.

Dunkin Donuts French Vanilla Coffee!!! It's SO good:) I have only recently become a coffee drinker and Im so sad I had been missing out for so long!

This is my favorite creamer to add to my coffee. The brand is International Delight and the flavor I like is French Vanilla. You can find it at just about any grocery store, Wal-Mart or Target.

I love Mascara!! This new product by Maybelline called Lash Stiletto works great. It lengthens and adds lots of volume. It doesn't clump or run but it washes off easily at the end of the day.

I love a good, clean smelling perfume. This perfume by Philosophy called Amazing Grace is so yummy! It sort of reminds me of baby lotion....love it!

Last but not least is a new favorite. I have always had problems with my eyeshadows creasing and this does the trick! I put my makeup on at 6:30 every morning and my eyeshadow doesn't budge all day! The primer is called Prime Time by Bare Esentuals.

It's alright to be a redneck....

John and I went up to Birmingham this past weekend and we made a couple of pit stops on the way up! First we stopped in Montgomery to visit Hank Williams Sr's grave.

On the way home we stopped in Hueytown, AL where the Nascar driver, Davey Allison was from. My Dad is a HUGE Nascar fan and Davey was his favorite. At a Talledega race in the early 90's my Dad was in the infield when the race was called off due to bad weather. Dad was leaving when he saw Davey running through the rain and Dad offered him a ride and Davey hopped on the hood of his truck. Dad loves to tell that story! I still remember how upset my Dad was when Davey died in 1993:(

We found the Havoline car painted on the side of an old building:)

Tuesday's List-Thanksgiving Blessings

My wonderful, crazy family! Not only do I have a very close immediate family but a close extended family too! My Dad comes from a family of 8 children and my Mom, a family of 5 kids:) I am also blessed to be able to work for my Dad (and get along with him for the most part!) I love my sweet brother!

I was counting my husband in there with my family…but let me just say, I am SO thankful for my husband! He works so hard to support me and he keeps me safe. He is an awesome cook and he likes to clean! I am also thankful for his sweet family too:)

I am thankful for my job in this stinky economy. Even on the days when I get frustrated with my job, I try to focus on the positives. I’m sure there are a lot of people that would give anything to have a job.

I am so thankful for our dog-babies, Pumpkin and Dozier. They captured our hearts as soon as they came into our lives…and our lives have never been the same. They bring us so much laughter!

My friends! I really don’t know what I would do without them. They have been there for me through thick and thin to offer support and encouragement for whatever curveball life throws.

Even though my father-in-law is suffering from a terrible disease, I am thankful that my husband has this time to spend with his Dad. It has also made us appreciate our health that much more.

I am so thankful for my Bible study that I have been a part of for the past few months. Words cannot even describe what it has done for me and my faith is so much stronger! I cannot wait to start our next session and learn even more about the Lord! Like Jessica said, I am thankful to have someone to be thankful to!

A letter to me

Today I am copying an idea I saw over at my friend Rhonda's blog, A GRITS life. She wrote a letter to herself at 17, kinda like the Brad Paisely song, Letter to Me. Although it hasn't even been 10 years since I decided to give it a shot:

Slow down! Enjoy this time of being carefree, college is going to be fun but it’s going to bring a lot of responsibility also.

All those short shorts, and cute little outfits aren’t so cute after all. Listen to Mom when she tells you that you are dressing like a “you know what” and stop hiding outfits in your bag and locker….you are going to get detention for dress code violation and Mom will NOT be happy then!

Some of these friends of yours that you think so highly of will unfortunately disappoint you many, many times in the future. Listen to Dad when he tells you to avoid people who are full of drama. When he tells you that you are lucky if you can count on one hand your true friends, don’t laugh at him….it’s true!

I know you think you are in love with your high school sweetheart…but just wait, you have NO idea what true love is:)

That time you and Courtney got caught sneaking out was terrible….but I promise you will be able to eventually look back and laugh really hard.

Enjoy those Saturday and Sunday’s at the Strange farm with Julie…eat as many turkey sandwiches from Dolly’s that you possibly can, with as many packets of mayonnaise that you want. You will always have great memories from the farm…learning to drive, talking about boys, planning our lives and plotting how to avoid being grounded:) When Julie goes into Miss Darby mode, listen…she’s going to go somewhere with that one day!

One day you will stop fighting with little brother and he will be your best friend….even though you will continue to boss him around.

That sweet little country boy that you have had a crush on for so long…very soon he is going to sweep you off your feet and you are going to live happily ever after! You will have 2 furry babies that melt you heart and hopefully one day several human babies:)

Pretty soon there is going to be something called a CHI….buy it, use it and love it!

I know it’s not looking good right now, but Mom will eventually be you best friend. Stop giving her such a hard time…you will look back and see that she was so right about *most* everything she said and did.

You have a huge extended family with lots of cousins. Be proud of that family and always put family first. Your cousins are going to be the most important thing to you and I know they will be for the rest of your life.

Say your prayers and grow closer to the Lord. Always be thankful for the many blessings you have. Be positive and always try to have a smile on your face. Live life to the fullest!

I think I was 18 in this picture and Pumpkin was a little baby!

Welcome November!

I had to put up a few more pictures from Halloween! My mom is so cute! She dresses up as Snow White every year and hands out candy. She always get's a bunch of trick-or-treaters at her house. I used to have so much fun when I would trick-or-treat when I was little!

Miss Pumpkin was pretending to be Toto!

I took this one night this week up at the farm in Bainbridge. Troy was off in a deer stand when I got there and the sunset was just so pretty...I had to find a good spot to watch it. He has a stand up against a tree very close to the house and I just climbed right up and watched the sunset. It was very peaceful.

We have a busy weekend coming up!! One of my good friends from High School is getting married tomorrow. The wedding and reception is outside and the weather is going to be PERFECT. Im so happy for her!
