My poor, sweet baby girl has been so, so sick this week. It has been so hard. About half of the kids in her class came down with Hand, Foot and Mouth disease-isn't that such a terrible name? Paisley was not able to avoid the illness. She drooled for about 3 days because it just hurt too bad to swallow. All day and night on Monday and Tuesday and whined and cried...non stop. Nothing I could do would make her better. It broke my heart. Yesterday was a little better and then last night she slept ALL night!

Hopefully she will be all better and back at school next week!

We have been getting better with self feeding around here. Well, besides last night when she dumped the entire bowl in her lap and said, uh oh! She is very independent and loves to do it herself!

On Christmas Eve Paisley had a little bit of a cough. It was worse on Christmas Day and she had a runny nose but acted like she felt fine. We were going to go to the farm that Monday but decided to stay home a few more days to make sure she was 100% well. On Wednesday we headed north. P took a short nap in the truck and we had a great afternoon playing on our swingset and just having fun. All of the sudden around 3:30 she just started hysterically crying. We couldnt figure it out! I finally got her to fall asleep in my arms and take a second nap-and both of those things are not normal for her to do. She woke up about an hour later and started crying really bad again. Nothing we did would make her stop crying. Thankfully my Dad and brother were up at the farm too and they helped Troy and I figure out what to do. I ended up calling Urgent Care and talking to a nurse and we ended up heading that way.

Paisley continued to scream like she was in pain...the worst crying I have ever heard. I thought (and was hoping) it was just an ear infection but I just didnt know what to think....she had never acted like that and I was so worried.

We arrived at Urgent Care around 6:30 and they treated us like gold. They were SO sweet to Paisley, got us right in. After a quick exam, the Dr. said it wasn't an ear infection and ordered a chest x-ray and blood work. I was so scared! Thankfully all we had to do was walk across the hall and have our x ray and lab work done and we had no wait!

We quickly got the results back and bless her heart, she had pneumonia! Poor little monkey. A nurse gave her some motrin and a shot of rocephin and sent us back out in the waiting room to wait and be sure she didnt have a reaction to the antibiotic.

By the time the nurse came to give us our papers to leave, Paisley was running all over the waiting room! I didnt care, I was just so glad she was feeling better! What a scare!

A Look Back at 2011....

JANUARY
In January I started back to work! At the time I was so excited to be able to take Paisley with me...what a disaster that turned out to be. A few weeks later I was desperate to get rid of that dang swaddle blanket and was looking for suggestions. At the end of the month my brother and I went to see George Straight. I almost didn't go because I was SO tired from Paisley still getting up 3+ times during the night but I was so glad I went because he touched my hand!! I was so excited.

FEBRUARY
This was the best and worst month for Paisley's sleeping habits. I finally let her cry it out with the Ferber Method and it worked. She was sleeping through the night by the 3rd night!! It turned us both into new people:) During this month one of my best friends took my favorite pictures of Paisley. I just loved every single one of them!

MARCH
In the beginning of the month, I posted about the controlled burn we did at the farm. Paisley was also very close to becoming mobile! As the weather started to warm up a bit we had some playdates with friends and a visit from Aunt Lujane! On the last day of this month, Paisley crawled for the first time at 7.5 months!

APRIL
By mid April I was back in the groove of things at work. Paisley was no longer coming to work with me and I was actually able to get things done! I posted this awesome handrail my Dad made for a local homeowner. I had a fun little photo session on the back deck with my babies...I love the colors in the pictures of that post! At the end of the month, Paisley had her first dancing debut on the blog!

MAY
In the beginning of May we celebrated my first official Mother's Day with a trip to St. George Island. This was Paisley's first trip to the beach! We went through a little peacock phase this month. I did a post with some pictures of the sweetest little sleepy face! Paisley's hair really started to grow thicker this month! Paisley really became attached to her older sister this month too!

JUNE
This month I posted about my excitement over the Sunflowers Troy had planted at the farm. Mid month I did Paisley's 10 month post and her favorite word was Da Da (still is) and she loved to bark at dogs! By the end of the month, my Sunflowers were in bloom!!

JULY
We celebrated the 4th of July at the farm and I got these cute pictures of Troy and Dozier. I also took some really sweet pictures of Troy and Paisley riding out an afternoon thunderstorm on the porch. At the end of the month Paisley took her first steps and we had a video too!

AUGUST
My blogging slowed down a bit this month but I checked in at the beginning of the month to say hi. My sweet girl turned 1 on the 18th! Paisley started school at the end of the month and it was heartbreaking to leave her. I cried the whole day but we both LOVE it now! She has learned so much!

SEPTEMBER
At the beginning of the month, Paisley made her annual appearance at the Pig Pickin' to see Paw Paw. I talked to you about my favorite Bible Studies. And I finally caught you up with Paisley's 12 month post!

OCTOBER
I checked in at the beginning of the month to let you know I was stressed and frazzled! We visited the Pumpkin Patch and had a blast on Halloween!

NOVEMBER
I only had time for one post this month...to show you the fun we had trick-or-treating!

DECEMBER
I popped in to let you know I was still here and then was able to squeeze in a 16 month post too!

What a fun year it's been with so many blessings! We can't wait to see what's in store for 2012. I hope to keep up with the blog a little more...it's been so fun to look back at the past year!

Christmas Catch-Up

Time has gotten away from me...again! Here is a quick re-cap of Christmas!

A few days before Christmas Paw Paw (my Dad) came over dressed as Santa. As you can see, it didn't go over very well. Maybe next year Santa won't seem so scary. Santa made an appearance at our house last year too so I'm hoping this will be a fun Christmas tradition.

Paw Paw made up for it on Christmas Eve morning when we went over to his house to open gifts. Paisley has her very own rocking horse! She has alot of room to grow with her horsey and I think we will get many years of fun out of it!

Christmas Eve we went to our 5:30 children's church service. Of course Paisley was still too young to really pay attention to the Christmas Story that was being preformed but it was fun to attend. Paisley made it through about 90% of the service and then lost it at the end because she was all out of snacks and wanted to get out of her seat. But she did very well considering the time of day :)

These are the goodies that Santa left at our house! I have already had to put away the lap desk and crayons because she wouldn't stop eating them...and I'm not talking about just putting them in her mouth. I had to brush her teeth and that still didn't get all the crayon out!

Goodness gracious, I love that sleepy little face!

Troy and I had talked the night before and really thought she would go for the animal toy first but she went for her baby then immediately handed it to her Daddy and moved on to the next toy :)

After opening presents at our house we went over to Grammy's (my mom) house for brunch and presents. Uncle John bought baby girl very own pretend 4 wheeler! She loves to make it go beep-beep!

We had a wonderful Christmas and are so thankful to celebrate our sweet savior's birthday!!

16 Months

I have been meaning to do a Paisley update for a while!! I feel like she has changed the most in the past few months.

Sweet P is a very active, high maintenance girl. Still not a big fan of the carseat or the stroller so we really try to plan our outings in short trips and to places that don't require the stroller. She just wants to get out and run around! We go to lunch sometimes but its just stressful...never knowing when she will be "over it" and ready to get out of the high chair. And you can forget going out to dinner. We have tried it once and I ended up taking her outside and I just followed her around where ever she wanted to go.

Paisley takes one nap a day around 1pm and sleeps anywhere from 45 mins to sometimes 3 hours. She goes to bed between 7-8pm depending on how well the nap was. She still wakes up quite a bit at night. She has been sick a good bit since starting school with sinus infections and she now has 9 teeth-including 3 molars!! I blame alot of the night wakings on that.

About a month ago, she all of the sudden started this funny jibber-jabber and now pics up new words daily. It's so amazing! For a while she was just saying Da Da, Ma Ma, Hi, ball but now we have all kinds of words. Here is a list so I can remember :)

Paisley is not a great eater...neither was I! She loves mac & cheese, beef ravioli and pizza :)

She loves to dance and sing. I have been amazed at the motions she has picked up some of the songs we sing. She can do Wheels on the Bus, He's got the whole world in His hands, Itzy Bitzy Spider and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Ring around the rosie is our new favorite thing to do!

I'm Still Here!

Please excuse my break! I have been preoccupied with this little rascal below:

She's a climber and into EVERYTHING! She has quite the personality (and temper) and sure keeps me busy. The newborn stage was hard but I think this stage is equally as hard (maybe harder), just in a different way. I am in a full sweat every morning by the time I have dressed her for the day. Even though parenting is very hard, it is the most rewarding experience.

If I can find the time, I will be doing a 15 month post soon. Happy December!

How in the world is it already October??? Time is FLYING! I feel like Paisley is in a little bit of a difficult stage right now...wanting and needing all of my attention plus she is into EVERYTHING! I know it just comes with the terriroty:) It's very hard balancing being a good wife, a mom, keeping a clean house and working part time. The clean house is the last thing I worry about. But then it stresses me out that my house is so dirty. I just can't justify hiring someone to clean it when the very next day there will be crumbs all over the floor! :) Oh well, I know this is just a season of life and I am trying to embrace it the best I can!

Paisley Update

I never really got to do a good 12 month post so here it is at 13 months!

*Paisley really took off with her walking on her birthday and now she walks everywhere-we rearely see her crawl. Now that she is such a good walking girl, she likes to climb too. She pushed her pink chair up to the coffee table the other day and tried to climb up and she also tries to climb out of the bathtub all the time!

*P still gets some formula...she's just not the best solid food eater and I just feel like she still needs it. Some days she loves the mac & cheese I made her and the next time I make it she throws it on the ground. She is getting good at taking bites of little sandwiches and things now too-very exciting!

*She constantly points at things and says "that" meaning she wants me to tell her what it is. She can say dog and of course Dada is still the most used word. She is starting to follow commands. I can ask for a hug, ask where Pumpkin is, her nose, ears, etc. She still occasionally puts things in her mouth but usually she prefers to hand us the item that she has found:)

*Paisley LOVES balls. We bought her a big bouncy type ball at toys r us yesterday and she carries it all over the house. Anytime we see a ball or balloon she points and goes crazy wanting to touch it. She also loves to read books. She knows the drill...all she has to do is hand us a book and we will read it to her.

*We are officially on one nap a day. Sometimes if she wakes up extra early (like around 6:30) then I will put her down for a morning nap and an afternoon nap. She usually wakes up between 7-8am and then takes a nap no later than 1:30 and sleeps for about 1.5 hours. Then bedtime is at 7!! I'm SO thankful for an early bedtime and for the most part she usually sleeps through the night.

The very first book I read as a Bible Study was Calm My Anxious Heart by Linda Dillow. I HIGHLY recommend it. I used to be so anxious all the time...such a worry wart and this book really helped me to release some of those anxieties and trust the Lord more. Don't get me wrong, I still worry but not like I did!

Life these days....

I knew that as soon as Paisley started school she would get sick. And she has. She has had some kind of tummy bug/virus since Friday. I have had a sinus infection since Wednesday. It's been HARD. I really think the hardest part about being a mom so far has been mothering while I have been sick. The sleep issues we used to have were pretty bad too but this tops it.

I'm on an antibiotic and starting to feel better but baby girl is still sick. We had lab work done this morning so that might tell us more. Daddy can't change poo poo diapers or he will throw up (I have seen it with my own eyes) so I have been dealing with alot of yucky diapers not to mention all the times I have had to change the sheets.

I know it could be alot worse...I shouldnt even complain about her having some little virus but Im just venting. Here's to hoping baby girl gets better soon!!

We took P to see my Dad at the big BBQ Pig Pickin he does every year for his church. It was SO hot...it got up to 102 that day. We took her last year too when she was just a few days old!

School Days!

Sweet girl started school today! She's only going a few mornings a week but I was SO sad to leave her. She did great at orientation...played for a long time and didnt even look at me! Well, today I expected to go in her classroom and get her situated but the teacher was at the door and I had to hand her over a little baby gate. Paisley clung to me and then started screaming when the teacher took her...and that's when Mommy started crying too:(

I called and checked on her about an hour later and her little class had just gotten back from a buggy ride and P was holding hands and "talking" with another baby! Made me feel a little better! Hopefully she does a little better on Friday!

Reading her favorite Farm book, sitting in her new chair! For right now it has to be up against the crib or a wall because she hasn't learned to sit on her bottom! The chair has flipped over too many times to count!

We went to Cracker Barrel Sunday morning for the first time with Paisley. Probably the first and last trip for a while. She is in a new screaming phase where if she doesnt get what she wants or something dangerous is taken away from her she screams at the top of her lungs. It's not cute but I know it's just a phase!

Hopefully I will be able to get her birthday post up soon. I feel like I am so far behind on everything. You should see my house! Paisley is very active right now and is teething. So she needs Mama A LOT!

Hello there! Life has been very busy the past month. Good, but busy. It's hard keeping up with a silly (almost) one year old! This is another busy week-Paisley is having not one but two birthday parties! What a blessed little girl.

I will leave you with a few phone pictures for your enjoyment. The second one is of her new trick...how big is Paisley??? She has also learned to point to her nose and ears. So cute!

The last picture is of the two "frienemies", one minute they are snuggly BFF's and the next they growl and hit each other. I'm sure you can figure out who growls and who hits:)

Paisley-11 Months

I seriously cannot believe I just wrote: Paisley-11 Months. How is my little baby 11 months!?

If you haven't noticed, it has been increasingly harder to take Paisley's picture with her pig!

*Paisley is such a mess! She is a wild girl and loves to get into any and everything she can. Troy has started calling her Curious George. Opening drawers has become a new favorite thing to do and of course, everything must come out!
*Dada is her favorite word. She calls everything Dada and points at things non stop...sometimes with both hands:)
*We are pretty sure she can identify a dog and cat. Everytime we see a dog whether it's in a book, on tv or in person, she gets so excited. She can bark too.
*She figured out the push toy last week and has been getting to the standing position on her own. She really mastered it yesterday...it's so weird to see her standing in the middle of a room.
*We have found some new favorite foods this month! Beef Ravioli, waffles and red beans and rice! Last night I let her try one of those Gerber toddler meals, which was cheese ravioli and she ended up eating the entire thing. Loved it!
*It's been getting a little harder to take her out to eat (lunch time) because she wants whatever we have and screams until she gets it. Not cute.
*P is taking 2 naps a day. Morning and afternoon. She wakes up anywhere between 7-8:30 and goes to bed around 7 at night. I'm VERY thankful for that. She still has good nights and bad nights. I would say 5 out of 7 nights she still wakes up. I will have to go hold her for a few minutes and replace her paci but that's usually all it takes.
*She loves to stand in the drivers seat of Troy's truck and dance to the radio. It's hilarious!
*Pumpkin and Paisley have become a little bit more friendly. If Pumpkin is laying on a pillow, Paisley will go up to her and lay on the pillow too. It's precious!

I can't believe in one more month I will posting about her first birthday!!!

Guess who ran away from the farm this weekend? This little rebel pictured above. I usually let her out to potty by herself and she is back within a few minutes scratching at the door. I had to feed Paisley and get her dressed so I didnt even notice that Pumpkin had snuck off for about 30 minutes. For some reason I didnt panic when I realized she was gone even though my biggest fear has always been that a hawk or coyote will get her. Troy hopped on the 4 wheeler for search and rescue. Luckily he was back in about 15 minutes with Miss Pumpkin. She was high-tailin it to the closest neighbors house (which is not very close) and she got caught in the briars. I dont think Pumpkin will be allowed to go outside by herself any more! Im very thankful she came home safe and sound.

In other dog news...Dozier Smith ate a lit firework this weekend and it exploded in his mouth. Thankfully all it did was bust his lip open. I had a complete panic attack over it but I knew he was fine when he tried to do it again.

We have been busy bees! Between farm weekends and chasing this silly girl, time has gotten away from me!

We had our first taste of spagetti a few weeks ago. It also works well as a hair gel.

Paisley-10 Months

Here's what Paisley Jane has been up to this month:

-Eating (4) 8 ounce bottles a day and we try to eat baby food 3 times a day. She will pretty much feed herself anything that we are eating but she HATES bananas!

-Bedtime is around 7 or 7:30 and the mood starts going south around 5ish. Dinner in the highchair at 5:30 and then bath. We go play in P's room and listen to Raffi while we get jammies on then wind down for bedtime. We went to Outback for dinner a few weeks ago....Paisley's first "dinner" experience. She did so-so...I had to take her outside towards the end of the meal.

-Paisley loves to go to the grocery store and Target. Really anywhere that has a buggy she can sit in. We were at Target last week and I turned away from the cart for 2 seconds and Miss Priss was STANDING up in the cart...still buckled in!

-Still wearing a size 3 diaper and can wear up to size 2T in clothes. Girlfriend has some meat on those thighs!

-Paisley is "cruising" very well and can speed crawl too! Sometimes she gets to carried away that she falls down while crawling. I cannot keep her away from the fireplace and she loves to rip off the padding around the edges.

-Dada is still her favorite word. She says it all the time and loves to point while saying it. We went on a walk today and everytime she would see a dog she would make a barking noise...hilarious! She is very good at waving too!

-We ordered her "big girl" carseat yesterday. I can't believe it's already time for that!

We have SO much fun with our precious girl. I just love her so much!

Cheesy Chicken and Rice

This is one of our favorite meals. I make this in bulk and freeze the rest. Lately, I have been freezing in an 8" x 8" tinfoil cake pan-just enough for 2-3 people and very easy clean up!

Cheesy Chicken and Rice

Ingredients:
2 packages of boneless, skinless chicken breast
1 can of cream of mushroom soup
1 package of Uncle Ben's Long Grain Wild Rice
1 cup White Rice
2 heaping tablespoons of sour cream
Salt
Pepper
Shredded Mild Cheddar Cheese
Crock Pot liner!

Directions:
Put your crock pot liner on. Put your chicken in the crock pot. Add the can of cream of mushroom and the 2 scoops of sour cream. Sprinkle in some salt and pepper and you are done preparing! Set it up the night before and leave in fridge overnight so all you have to do is turn it on in the morning before work. Set it on low and leave it all day. When you get home that afternoon get a fork and stir the chicken up. It should become shredded chicken!

You can then add the cooked rice into the crock pot and stir it all up. Put it in a casserole dish and heat it in the oven on 350 for about 30-45 minutes until it is warm. During the last few minutes of cooking add some cheese on top and let it melt. Make sure the cheese doesnt burn!

**This meal freezes really good.

Paisley's happiest time of day is in the morning-after her morning bottle, of course. I just love the way she smiles when I walk in her room to get her out of her crib and she always smells so yummy! I love the way she smells in the morning.

This was as close as I wanted to get to the sweet little bird nest on our porch. Mama bird has been very busy making sure her nest is perfect and I have been making sure nobody turns on the front porch light!! I hope to hear the chirp of little babies soon!

Paisley-9 Months

This has been such a fun month. She has really been cracking us up...mainly because she has turned into such a DRAMA QUEEN! Everyone says it's just a girl thing but my Mom says I never acted like this. I wonder what's in store for the future?!? For now Troy and I laugh at her because some of the things she does are so shocking but I know we won't think it's funny for long!

Here's what Paiser girl has been up to:

*She is drinking 4 bottles a day and loving babyfood or whatever finger foods I will give her. She had asparagus last week and couldn't get it in her mouth fast enough! Loved it! Sometimes I am shocked at the amount of food she can eat. Dinner is usually her biggest meal...usually eating 6-8 ounces of babyfood. She's not a big fan of green beans or peas but if I put a little sweet potato on the spoon too, it goes down much easier.
*P is taking 2 naps a day and goes down for the night by 7 and usually sleeps until 7 or 8 the next day. I'm SO thankful for this. She does still wake up at night some but can put her self back to bed. Sometimes she will wake up between 5 and 6 am and if I give her a bottle she goes back down until about 8:30:)
*A week or so Paisley learned to clap! If I start singing "If you're happy and you know it" she will clap. It's the cutest thing! I think her first word is "uh oh" because everytime I say "uh oh" she says "uh uh". It really is amazing how their little brains soak up so much!
*She is pulling up on everything and is also getting into everything! Pumpkin's dog food is still very tempting. So is climbing on to the fireplace. When we remove her from these dangers, she arches her back and screams. It's so hard not to laugh.

I just can't believe how fast the time has gone by!

We just got back from a fun weekend at the beach! It was Paisley's first trip to St. George Island. There were alot of fun things to get into...there were several close attempts at eating a sand spur. Once she got in in her mouth she quickly realized it was no good:)

We had a wonderful Easter Sunday! It was also Troy's birthday! We enjoyed our church service-funny story....the children were called up to the front of church for a story and the teacher was teaching them to say hallelujah and she asked the congregation to say it on the count of three and when she got to three Paisley did her peacock scream at the same time everyone said hallelujah...everyone around us laughed so hard!

I love this next series of pictures...Paisley didn't waste anytime finding her Easter basket. Gosh...I love that girl!!!

Paisley-8 Months

Paisley girl is 8 months!

*Weight is right around 17 lbs, size 3 diaper and 9 or 12 month clothes. Most of her weight is in her thighs:) I LOVE it! She is very different from me as a baby-I was so little.
*P got her first tooth and learned to crawl on the same day. She is now into everything! At first the crawling was only if she really wanted to reach something-now she can follow me room to room and her favorite thing is to go for Pumpkin's food!!
*Getting much better at eating babyfood. She went through a little phase of only wanting big girl food (anything I was eating) but now she loves her babyfood again. Gerber cheese puff's are a favorite food and so are those Mum-Mum rice rusks. I can give her one of those in the grocery cart and she will be a very happy girl.
*Sleeping has been so-so this month. With the teething, I would hold her in the middle of night if I thought she was hurting and now she expects me to hold her ANYTIME she wakes up. I started re-sleep training last night.
*The noises she makes cracks us up. She has started doing a high pitched squeal...it kind of sounds like a peacock. There is also this growling noise that kind of sounds like ugh-ugh-ugh that she will do and sometimes she will immitate us if we do it too.
*I have started to see a little bit of a temper. If she doesnt want to go in the carseat, she will arch her back while im trying to buckle her in. She has also gotten very mad when I take her away from the dogfood.

Paisley-7 Months

This past month has been so much fun with Paisley! I just can't believe how big she is getting!

Here's what Paisley has been up to:

*She can totally sit up on her own now. She sometimes falls to the side if she gets off balance when something is too far out of reach! She will be crawling any day now.
*We haven't been too into babyfood this month. She usually turns her face away or if we are able to get some on her tongue she gags and acts like it's poison. My Dad was over the other night while I was trying to feed her and she wasn't having it-he took over and she ate an entire container of food for him! It was so funny and Troy and I were so surprised.
*Even though she isn't a huge fan of babyfood-she will pretty much eat anything off my plate. She loves Yogurt Melts and Puffs too.
*She is still CRAZY about her Daddy. It's the sweetest thing I have ever seen.
*When she gets excited she kicks her legs and moves her arms up and down. If she is sitting on the floor and she gets excited she bounces up and down on her bottom.
*She is sleeping SOOOO good at night and Im so thankful. I'm not just thankful for the sleep but just for the peace and quiet. She goes down between 6:30 and 7pm and sleeps until anywhere between 6-8am! Sometimes if she wakes up closer to 6am, I can feed her and she will go back down till 8:30 or so.
*Pumpkin and Dozier are Paisley's best friends. Pumpkin doesn't leave her side all day and we go out and visit Dozier all the time. D of course has no clue how big he is and would try to sit in Paisley's lap if we let him. He will lick her face and she laughs!
*She loves remote controls and cell phones. She likes to chew on the little foam letter bath toys. Playing in Daddy's truck is very fun too, she steps right up and grabs the steering wheel.
*Paisley has started "kissing" herself in the mirror. She really cracks us up all the time. I had no clue that she would be this much fun.
*And just so we will remember...these are some of her current nicknames: Paiser, Pepe (pronounced Pai Pai), Pazel Jackson, Bunny and Paisey.

I thank God everyday that He blessed me with this sweet baby!

A couple of weekends ago the boys did a controlled burn up at the farm. What is it with men and fire?!? I can't tell you how excited both Troy and my Dad were to burn the woods.

My internet has been acting up at home so I haven't been around in the blog world lately but we are still here and happy! Miss P has been sleeping through the night in her own crib for the past week!! I'm so incredibly thankful:) It's amazing what a little sleep can do!

Paisley~ 6 Months!

I really can't believe my sweet girl is 6 months old!

We haven't taken pictures today but I wanted to go ahead and get my post up.

Here's what Miss P has been up to lately:

*Weighs a little over 16 pounds, wearing 6 and 9 month clothing and is in a size 3 diaper.
*She can officially sit up! We have issues with falling forward because she is so into everything and if something is out of reach, the will lunge her whole body at it. I think we are on the verge of crawling:)
*Eating stage 2 babyfood and somedays she eats better than others, just depends on her mood.
*She is just so in love with her Daddy. It's the sweetest thing I have ever seen. When he gets home, she starts throwing her arms up above her head and kicking her legs at the same time. Hilarious. Paisley is obsessed with eating the bill of his hat. That's always the first thing she goes for.
*This past month has probably been the worst we have had as far as sleeping in concerned. Including when she was a newborn! She was still being swaddled and it was going pretty well except she wouldnt go back down after her 1 am feeding and I got in the habit of putting her in bed with me....which is something I swore I would NEVER do but I was at the point where I would do whatever it would take to get some sleep. After a couple of weeks of this Paisley was starting to try to roll over in her swaddle when she was in bed with me. Fast forward to this past Sunday and she DID roll over. SO....I knew the swaddle wasn't an option anymore. I knew she needed to be in her crib, by herself so I tried letting her cry it out again and we are on night 4 tonight and so far, so good! It hasn't been fun but not nearly as bad as I thought it would be.
*She makes us laugh everyday with all of the funny things she does. She is starting to try and "pet" Pumpkin...it's so sweet.
*She does a horrible, sad face when someone holds her that she doesnt know. Huge tears and as soon as I get her back in my arms she immediately stops.

It really does get better everyday!!!!

The King of Country Music

Last night I had the pleasure of seeing this handsome man in concert along with Lee ann Womack and Reba! My brother and I had the worst seats to begin with, upper level, top row but quickly decided we would try to get closer. We ended up on the very front row and had the best time!

The highlight of the night was getting to touch his hand! I know, silly...but I was SO excited:)

Paisley Jane-5 Months

I am a few days late with this post again...maybe one of these months it will be on time:)

This past month has been one of the best and the hardest at the same time. We have had some "sleep regression" issues but im praying we come out of that very soon. At our 4 month appt our Dr said it was time to get rid of the swaddle and carseat sleeping. We tried one arm out at first and she would wake up 5 or 6 times a night...we even tried letting her cry it out (progessive waiting) and after 1.5 hours I couldnt take it any longer and I dont want to try again unless things are really, really bad. If I could rock her to sleep and her sleep through the night then that would be fine but she wakes up 3-4 times wanting her paci or to be held. She only eats once and is still swaddled, in her carseat. I tried the crib but she sleeps best in her carseat and by gosh, I have to get some sleep. Her Pekemoe should be here any day now and I pray that does the trick to get her out of the carseat and swaddle.

Here a a few things about Paisley this month:
*Still sleeping swaddled, in carseat :/
*Eats about 6 oz, 4 times a day and once at night. We started rice cereal mixed with baby food a few weeks ago and she LOVES it! Carrots are her favorite so far.
*She is starting to sit up by herself! She can balance for about 10 seconds at a time and can sit for a long time in the tri-pod position:) When she does a good job we clap for her and say "yay, Paisley" and she gets so excited...it's absolutely precious.
*We are having a very hard time getting used to taking naps at work. She usually ends up crying until she falls asleep in her swing and only naps about 30 min at a time...no wonder she isnt sleeping good at night!
*Im pretty sure is teething...shes had some really fussy days and she chews on everything!
*Starting to become very aware of Pumpkin. They just stare at each other. Pumpkin always tries to lick her face and Paisley has started grabbing Pumpkin!
*Becoming very active. She kicks her legs like crazy and has started throwing her arms around (mainly up and down).
*I'm pretty sure her favorite person is Troy:)

I am proud to introduce you to my brother John! He is a 21 year old college student here in Tallahassee, FL and also works full time for our Dad's welding business.

A few fun facts about John:

*He is a HUGE Florida State football/baseball fan!
*Is a Christian and very close with his family.
*He is a proud Uncle to my two animal babies and my 5 month old daughter Paisley! He is so good with babies:)
*Became an Eagle Scout by the time he turned 18 and still volunteers with the Boy Scouts.
*Loves music! Big fan of country, John Denver, The Allman Brother, etc!
*His favorite movie is Forrest Gump and he can do the BEST impressions!

The Swaddle

I am at the end of my rope with trying to transition Paisley out of her swaddle blanket. The girl still LOVES to be swaddled. I tried cold turkey (horrible) and I have been trying to let her sleep with one arm out for about a week and she has been waking up 5 or 6 times a night crying and rubbing her eyes with the free hand. Everything I have found on the internet says to either transition by one arm at a time or to let them stay swaddled until they show that they are ready to be done with it. There are really any products out there to help with the transition either. I did find this product and Im seriously considering ordering it.

Does anyone know of any other products?

Baby's First Christmas!

We had such a fun first Christmas with baby Paisley! I kept thinking back to last Christmas when my morning sickness was sooo bad. I could barely stand to sit at the table during Christmas dinner:) This sweet girl was so worth it! We had a visit from Santa (my Dad) a few days before Christmas. Paisley and Pumpkin were so excited!

Paisley-4 Months

Sweet girl is getting to be SO much fun! She amazes us everyday and we are so very thankful for her. Here are some things about Paisley this month:

*She is still loving her baths. She kicks like crazy in her little bathtub and gets water everywhere. She really picks up with the kicking when Troy gives her attention.
*Her favorite toy is her little duck.
*We went back to work this month and it is a MAJOR adjustment. A welding shop is very noisy and hard to nap in.
*She has tried her first bite of rice cereal. She usually spits it out but Grammy got her to eat some the other night.
*Our pediatrician told us to stop letting her sleep in her carseat and we also are working on getting rid of the swaddle. Trying to get her to sleep without being swaddled is extremely difficult. We have been trying to start with one arm out and it's not working very well. We also tried cold turkey and that was a major fail. Any suggestions?
*Before we took away the carseat and swaddle she was only waking up once, sometimes not at all but now that we took away what she is used to she is waking up 3-4 times a night. I only let her eat once during the night..sometime between 12-3am and she only gets 2 ounces and inhales it.
*Getting better about riding in the car and it's also her favorite nap spot. Still not very fond of the stroller.
*Smiles all the time and laughs at fake sneezes and coughs:) Looking more and more like her Daddy and Grandpa Hamp everyday.
*She grabs everything and it always goes immediately into her mouth.

Hi Ho, Hi Ho...It's off to work we go!

Today is our first day back to work! I thankfully have the luxury of bringing Paisley with me! It's going to take some getting used to on both our parts. Little Miss Light Sleeper is going to have to learn to nap with some LOUD noises! Since we arrived at 9:30 she has napped for a total of 15 minutes but hopefully Wednesday will go better.

I have a lot of catching up to do on here...including P's 4 month post!!

This was at church tonight. This was actually the first time we have taken Paisley to church. My mom snuck this picture because she was just being so cute. I'm so, so very thankful for this sweet baby. This is such a special Christmas this year. I'm thankful for some new babies that are on the way too!! SO many answered prayers! I'm also thinking about the families that have recently lost loved ones, especially those who have lost a child. Please keep them in your prayers.

I have been singing Christmas songs to Paisley and I think she likes Rudolph the best! She loves music! We were watching GAC yesterday and I swear she was stomping her foot to Coal Miner's Daughter. Hilarious!

Grampy babysat for the first time last week. P did pretty good but had a few fussy spells.

She's really getting good at grabbing and playing with things. Of course whatever she grabs goes immediately to her mouth.

She loves her bumbo and her Daddy too! She can be really fussy with me all afternoon and he will walk in and she will get the biggest smile on her face!

CURLS! This is the ONE thing that she got from me:)

I had two herniated discs about 4 years ago and ended up having surgery and everything has been fine since. Over the weekend I strained my back somehow and it has been hurting SO bad ever since. It hurts in the same place where the bad discs are and I have nerve pain shooting down my leg too. Please pray it gets better soon...there is nothing worse than being sick or hurt and having a baby that needs to be held and taken care of. Im going to the chiropractor tomorrow and I pray I get some relief and that its not herniated again.

This girl just cracks me up! She keeps me on my toes. Her mood changes in the blink of an eye!

I've been meaning to write this too-one of my aunts came to visit several weeks ago and we were talking about Paisley and I told her P was sleeping in her car seat at night and I was explaining why and she told me that I didnt need to explain myself. She is a mom and she understands. You just do whatever it takes! This got me thinking and made me realize that I had been explaining myself to so many people about so many things and I dont need to! I really apprecited her advice. Thanks Aunt Peg!!

End of November!

I know I say it all the time but I cannot believe how fast time is flying by! Is it really the end of November?? We have had several fun weekends at the farm and a great Thanksgiving! We put up our Christmas tree today! I can't wait for the month of December:)

I just had to get a picture of Paisley with her Daddy's first deer of the season.

A really sweet family that I used to babysit for told us that if we wanted their old swingset, we could have it! We took them up on it and set it up at the farm.

We had Thanksgiving at my Mom's house this year and it was great! So much yummy food and one new family member to be extra thankful for!

This little priss has rolled over twice and will not stop growing! I have seen such a change in her the past few weeks as she is transitioning out of the newborn stage....she is becoming such a big girl.

Troy and P watching the Iron Bowl. She is usually so much better for him than she is for me. I think she gets sick of me sometimes! Speaking of football....the SEMINOLES beat the Gators 31-7!!!!!!!!! I couldnt have been more proud!!!! I hope we do good this weekend in the ACC Championship!!!!!

I can't believe this little monkey is 3 months old! Time has flown by!

Here are a few things about Paisley at 3 months:

*Waking up 2-3 times a night and still sleeping in the carseat, swaddled tight. FYI-I have tried many times to get her to sleep in the crib or pack-n-play and sometimes she wakes up as soon as I put her down and other times she wakes up after about 30 min. The carseat is where she sleeps for the longest periods of time.
*Very vocal! She makes the funniest noises and has started blowing raspberries. She has been drooling everywhere!
*Enjoys bathtime very much.
*Is a kicking machine...especially in her bouncy seat.
*Loves attention from her daddy. She shows off for him and waits to see if he will say anything then she will just smile the biggest smile...it's too cute!
*Still a pretty high maintenance baby. We do alot of walking around and bouncing. Still not a fan of being in the backseat by herself nor does she like to be in the stroller/grocery cart.
*Paisley has recently become a very light sleeper. I have a box fan and a white noise machine going but she will wake up to the smallest sound. I would say she wakes up within 30 min of going to bed every night 80% of the time. I can easily get her right back to sleep but its just so frustrating to tip toe around the house...and make dinner! I hope it's just a phase!

I'm looking forward to her first Thanksgiving this week and of course Christmas is going to be a blast this year!! I'm so thankful for my sweet baby!

Time is flying by so fast! I can't believe Thanksgiving is next week! This little girl will be 3 months old tomorrow, I can't believe it!

Troy got home on Saturday night after being gone on a hunting trip to Illinois for 2 WHOLE WEEKS! The trip had been planned for over a year so there was so way he could get out of it...not that he wanted to:) Paisley was so happy to see him. It took her just a few seconds to remember him and then she just couldn't stop smiling.

Paisley's Great Great Aunt Lujane came in town this past weekend and we had a blast. We went on a day trip up to Bainbridge and P was such a good girl!

I seriously could eat this sweet baby alive! She has been developing a pretty strong temper lately and even though it is hard to deal with sometimes (and still getting up 3x a night) I just love her so, so much and couldnt be more thankful. A friend of our family lost his little 9 month old grand daughter very suddenly last weekend and I am absolutely heartbroken for them. Please keep them in your prayers...I just can't stop thinking about them. This week, everytime I pull my sleepy self out of bed in the middle of the night I thank God that I have a sweet baby to get up and take care of.
